Insomnia

Oh that peace when eyes should close
How you dodge from shadow to light
Like the images that dance
While a candle burns down slowly
Reminding you that dawn approaches
A demon on your shoulder whispering
The stillness never comes
More coffee and glowing screens distract you from the pain and hurt
You try each thing twice
The counting of fuzzy jumping sheep
Ohm and fingers connected thumb to middle
Breathing, all its ins and outs
The stillness still alluds your grasp
Too cry
Too yell
Too run
Too fight
Too laugh
The demon whispers why not all at once
The candle continues to drip slowly
Dawn approaches, a new day
As eyes close
The alarm sounds
Time to start again
